11 May Book Materials for Carepartner Group Facilitation
Thank you for your interest in utilizing our carepartner book group discussion materials. As a first and important step, please be sure to carefully read the Facilitator Overview. In addition to the materials provided by Stroke Onward, we are pleased to provide access to additional field-tested resources created and contributed by our generous community.
Just as every stroke is different, each book group is different. Prior to their release, these materials were implemented successfully in a range of settings accommodating varied logistics, preferences and constraints. We encourage experienced facilitators to utilize provided materials in any thoughtful way that best serves your group members’ experience and self-discovery in a supported and safe environment.
We wish you and your group a meaningful and beneficial healing journey. Should you have any questions about our materials or suggestions for how to improve them, please let us know. We welcome and encourage candid feedback about your experience, and request that all facilitators, group members and any student clinicians utilizing these materials complete a brief online survey at the completion of your book group.

Stroke Onward Materials
Our Carepartner resources were developed and tested in collaboration with community partners at the Stroke Comeback Center and Adler Aphasia Center. This overview represents a compilation of guidance based on the experience of these users, including input from their group members. There are a variety of ways to utilize discussion materials, and each facilitator should explore and carefully consider what approach(es) will work best to meet group and individual needs. While we are happy to share ideas, we do not prescribe or require any one size fits all solution. The goal is to find a comfortable and effective way for all participants to connect with the book’s content– and more importantly, each other.

Each chapter document below contains Points of Reflection (questions) to prompt group discussion. Facilitators may choose to distribute questions in advance of group discussion to encourage self-reflection, or simply use these and other questions to guide the group session.
