COMMUNITY EVENT – KANSAS CITY

Tuesday, July 12th at Chicken N Pickle

On July 12, we enjoyed the hospitality of the stroke and disability community in Kansas City; these allies helped us create a very moving event. Sam Porritt of Falling Forward Foundation shared how his spinal cord injury led him to create a support organization for survivors of conditions like stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury to be able to continue their much-needed therapy after their insurance coverage runs out. Shirley and Doug Hitt (carepartner and stroke survivor) gave attendees a sense of how difficult, and rewarding, rebuilding a life with aphasia can be. Sarah Langston from American Stroke Foundation also spoke – they provide much-needed stroke resources to the Kansas City community. Huge thanks to all of them, and Andrews McMeel, publisher of Identity Theft, for their help creating such an amazing event.
