COMMUNITY EVENT – ANN ARBOR / DEXTER

Wednesday, August 3rd at Erratic Ale in Dexter

On August 3, we visited Erratic Ale Brewery just outside of Ann Arbor, MI. To start, a huge thanks goes to Bill Kennedy and Christie Brown, PhD for helping to coordinate this event. We connected with the Ann Arbor Bicycle Touring Society and Erratic Ale Run Club at the brewery in addition to representatives from the University of Michigan Aphasia Program (UMAP) and the University of Michigan Adaptive Sports Program. Dr. Carol Persad, Director of the University Center for Language and Literacy in the Mary A. Rackham Institute, at University of Michigan spoke to the group after Steve, Deb, and Michael about the importance of aphasia programs and how aphasia impacts communication NOT intellect. It’s been incredible connecting with individuals who have similar goals to Stroke Onward in the education surrounding stroke and aphasia.
