COMMUNITY EVENT – DETROIT

Friday, Aug 5th at Detroit Axe – The Yard (Corktown)

This was a special event for Deb as two of her childhood best friends, Debbie Landau and Debbie Steinberg, coordinated this event. About 75 people gathered at Detroit Axe in Downtown Detroit where we enjoyed s’mores, bean bag toss, and a community of friends, family, and supporters.

Thanks to our wonderful speakers: Dr. Carol Persad, Director of the University Center for Language and Literacy in the Mary A. Rackham Institute, at University of Michigan and Michael Abalos, a stroke survivor who shared his story. The evening ended with a Q & A where Deb and Steve answered questions relating to Identity Theft, what it means to be a care partner, and more on their emotional journey. Through and through, each community event further demonstrates the importance of Stroke Across America’s nationwide (and beyond!) effort to educate on stroke, aphasia, and the emotional journey.
