ROUTE

Stroke Across America is more than a bike ride, it’s a journey to raise awareness about stroke, aphasia, and the importance of rebuilding identity and rewarding lives after traumas like stroke.  The trip was built around this mission.

100 DAYS TOTAL – 79 RIDING DAYS

The route was designed for riding quality, safety, and the ability to host Community Events for mission impact. We’re using sections of many well-tested, established bike routes, but because of our mission, we’ve included more major cities on our route than is normal for a cross-country trip.  You can see our Daily Schedule here.

APPROXIMATELY 4,300 MILES (~54.5 MILES/RIDING DAY)

If you are interested in coming out to ride with the group, please see our Segment Tours if you might like a fully supported cycling holiday, and our Ride with Rusti program if you might like to just come out for a few hours or days completely on your own.

APPROXIMATELY 146,000 FEET OF ELEVATION (~1,850/RIDING DAY)

Unlike many cross country rides, we will very much be on a schedule.  We have arranged 16 Community Events – If weather, equipment failures, injuries, or other issues create delays, we will “SAG” our way along the route as necessary to make the next event.  We hope to ride every mile, but one thing you learn in stroke recovery — adaptation is a must! Raising awareness, not riding every mile, is the priority for this trip.

Sincere thanks to Arlen Hall from BIKEternity who developed the detailed plan and will oversee all on road logistics.
